Description
The Susan B Anthony one dollar coin was created to honor this pioneer in women’s rights. Legislation passed on October 10, 1978 provided for the creation of this coin. This coin represented the first time that a woman, other than a model or personification of Lady Liberty, appeared on a circulating U.S. coin. The size and composition of this coin caused it to be confused with the quarter and hence it was rejected by the public.
