1858 Flying Eagle Cent – G/VG
The 1857 Flying Eagle cent came about due to increased cost in producing the large copper cent. The new design was much smaller and less than one half the weight. Distribution of the new Flying Eagle Cent started in 1857. Because of production difficulties it was redesigned in 1858. The Flying Eagle Cent was discontinued in 1858 as the coin was felt to be unattractive.
