Seated Liberty

Christian Gobrecht’s Liberty Seated design was adopted across all silver coinage from the half dime to silver dollar. The design had been based on a sketch prepared by Thomas Sully depicting Liberty seated on a rock, drawing inspiration from the depiction of Britannia on contemporary British coinage. The Seated Liberty Dimes featuring this design would be minted from 1837 to 1891 and include issues ranging from common to ultra rare.
