Description
Here’s the low-mintage 1867 two-cent piece, struck the same year the United States purchased Alaska and the first Horatio Alger “rags-to-riches” story appeared. James Longacre designed the now-vanished 2¢ coin. Its obverse displays a shield with arrows and the motto in god we trust in a ribbon above, and the reverse features the denomination.
